Northland grad opens Grand Forks thrift store

Second ImpressionsIn today’s economy, people are looking for more ways to stretch their dollars. A new thrift store, just opened in Grand Forks by a Northland Community & Technical College graduate, is making that a little easier. Amanda Lannen is the store’s owner.

Grand_Forks_Master_Chorale.mp3 When we think of sing-alongs, we might picture campfire songs or following the bouncing ball at karaoke. But a sing-along planned for Friday night at St. Michael’s church in Grand Forks will be quite a bit more high-class than that.

It’s an audience-participation version of Handel’s Messiah, performed by The Grand Forks Master Chorale and, hopefully, by you.

Therese_Masters_Jacobson_-_NWMAC_segment_12-6-11.mp3 Local artist Therese Masters Jacobson recently discussed her background and education in the world of art, particularly watercolor, on Pioneer 90.1. Artists and those who support the fine arts are featured each week on Pioneer 90.1, Tuesday at 3:05PM, as part of the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council feature series.  Masters Jacobson shared the story of developing and opening a new co-op store based in downtown East Grand Forks, the River Walk Artists Shop & Gallery. The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council was a driving force behind the new venue. Store hours are 11:00AM to 7:00PM, Tuesday through Sunday.
